Marijuana is an illegal narcotic that cannot be legally bought or sold in the United States of America. But it still very much has a major presence inside of this country and it’s not really difficult to come by if you truly want to get your hands on it.

Some of the slang terms or street names for marijuana are Aunt Mary, Boom, Chronic (Marijuana alone or with crack), Dope, Gangster, Ganja, Grass, Hash, Herb, Kif, Mary Jane, Pot, Reefer, Sinsemilla, Skunk, Weed. So if you’re concerned about whether or not one of your children might be taking marijuana, than listen for these particular street names because they might be talking about it right in front of you and you just don’t even know it.

If you aren’t already aware of this, marijuana is actually the most used drug in this country as far as illegal substances are concerned. This drug is derived from the hemp plant which is known as cannabis sativa. THC is the active chemical ingredient in this drug that helps get you high, but there are actually 400 different chemicals in total that you will find inside of cannabis. The THC is just the particular drug or part of the drug that happens the get you the most high.

If you haven’t already seen marijuana for yourself, it’s basically a shredded up mixture of dried leaves and dried plants that are green in color and could have some mixtures of gray and yellow as well. There’s also flowers mixed in at times and this is all part of the hemp plant.

When people use marijuana they will more often than not roll it up with tobacco paper and turn it into what is known as a joint. There are a lot of other individuals that like to smoke it in a pipe or part of a water pipe which is also known as a bong. Others like to mix it up with food and put it in certain dessert snacks like brownies. And then there are those individuals that will brew it up as part of a tea or roll it up inside of cigar paper is they enjoy smoking blunts.

The short-term effects of marijuana are obviously fairly simple. You will have a difficult time remembering things and your learning processes will be very slow. You will have a distorted perception of the way time works and your vision will also be distorted. You won’t be able to solve problems very quickly and your motor skills slow down tremendously. There are also a lot of people that experience anxiety when they are smoking marijuana and their heart rate will increase. You’ll also occasionally get dry mouth and dry throat when you smoke marijuana regularly.

There are some potential long-term negative effects to marijuana that you need to also understand. I know a lot of people like to believe that marijuana is all natural and that it’s really good for you, but that’s really not true and there are often high doses of cancer-causing compounds that could obviously kill you over the long term or at best make you very sick. They say smoking five joints a week is the equivalent to smoking a pack of cigarettes a day as far as inhaling harmful chemicals is concerned. So please recognize that using marijuana may be enjoyable but it’s not very healthy for you and it isn’t really very safe either for a whole lot of reasons.
